Introducing Monterey Chiropractor, Dr. Richard Westbrook

After only a week of care, the back pain was gone....

"Amazing" best describes my personal experience as a chiropractic patient. At eighteen years of age, I was suffering from intense low back pain and miserable allergies. after one week of care, the back pain was gone. Three months later, the allergies were dramatically improved. It didn't take long for me to understand the power of a chiropractic adjustment and the innate ability of the body to heal itself when free from nerve interference.

I began my pre-chiropractic education at Cuesta College where I studied the basic sciences, such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with physiology and anatomy courses. After completing my studies there, I was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic-West in San Jose, California. During my four years at Palmer, I studied the Art, Science, and Philosophy of Chiropractic. This rigorous curriculum not only prepared my but inspired me to have a lifelong passion for learning about ways to better serve my patients.

In practice, my objectives are to address all of your health concerns by performing a very thorough history and evaluation. I will then sit down and explain exactly what is wrong, if i can help, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. I use a wide variety of techniques that are designed to get you well as fast as possible. I work best with people who are very committed to being well and staying well.

While at Palmer, I met my future wife and colleague, Dr. Cynthia Martin-Westbrook. Together, we immediately went into private practice after graduation in 1991. I love the art of communication and have been a Toastmaster for 17 years. I am also fairly obsessed with sports, mainly football, basketball, and track & field. I enjoy running and most forms of exercise. Running the Big Sur Marathon was a profound experience in my life. I also host the Your Health Radio and Television Program on the second Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. on cable television channel 24 and KNRY 1240 AM. We have two amazing daughters, Lauren and Angela. Lauren is a very talented artist and Angela is quite the musician.

As a family, we all get regular adjustments and practice a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, good nutrition and prayer. It also helps to have a "medicine cabinet" that is filled with vitamin and mineral supplements and not drugs.

If you are looking to partner with someone who will always be honest and willing to encourage you to live a healthier lifestyle, then call us today to set up a time to regain or improve your health.

Dr. Westbrook Asks some important questions of interest to Monterey residents - Chiropractor Monterey Dr. Westbrook Asks...

Why does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works because your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body, controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. A chiropractor locates and reduces areas of nervous system compromise (usually along the spine) so your capacity to heal is restored. Chiropractic works by helping your body work as it was designed.
How do most people deal with vertebral subluxations?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Monterey chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care.
